Jason Beghe was best man at the wedding of “X-Files” star David Duchovny (his childhood pal) and actress Tea Leoni. In 1998, he starred as Demi Moore’s love interest in “G.I. Jane.” He’s been featured in numerous TV dramas such as “Criminal Minds,” “Numb3rs” and “CSI.”
Speaking of Scientology, he says: “It’s very, very dangerous for your spiritual, psychological, mental, emotional health and evolution. I think it stunts your evolution. If Scientology is real, then something’s f—ed up.”
Quote:”Anonymous” now has a bunch of faces to go without its name. The loosely bound group of net activists who’ve got a beef with the Church of Scientology showed up Sunday at the church’s largest Los Angeles’ locations. The protests were part of a global day of demonstrations against Scientology. Hordes of masked, costumed (and mostly young) picketers showed up in Boston, New York, Toronto, the U.K., Australia and a dozen other locations (thanks wikinews).
” Be very wary of the 10th of February. Anonymous invites you to join us in an act of solidarity. Anonymous invites you to take up the banner of free speech, of human rights, of family and freedom. Join us in protest outside of Scientology centers world wide.”
Just wrote this letter to the Consumerist… Have to see what happens.
Associated bank cant stop anyone from stealing your money, unless you have ID.
I was hoping I would never have to write this letter, so much for that. Several weeks ago, my girlfriend (Jack) had her purse stolen. It had her wallet and checkbook in it, along with her debit card and drivers license. She immediately called her bank and told them. They didn’t giver her any grief and proceeded to do whatever they do, and said they would issue her a new card.
The card arrived several days later, no problem. Nothing showed up on her account, so we thought we had dodged that bullet. Fast forward to a few days ago. She suddenly had a -$300+ balance and tons of charges she did not make. She has not used the account since before Xmas. On Friday afternoon, she called the Associated help line. The rather rude woman on the other end of the line began berating her for not noticing the charges earlier. Jackie asked her to put a freeze on the accounts so no more activity could occur. The Service rep then proceeded to tell her that there was nothing she could do over the phone, and that she would have to go into a local branch to put a hold on the accounts. She said not to worry, and that *if* the account details were being mis-used, we would not be responsible for any of it. I was justifiably nervous about this, but decided to give it a try.
The next business day we went to the major branch downtown and spoke to a service rep. She was very polite and apologetic, but explained that she could not place a hold on the account unless Jackie could show some identification. At his point, I went fairly livid and asked how she was supposed to show ID if everything had been stolen.
I’ll take a moment and explain that Jack is a student in Milwaukee, but is originally from Denver. This being the case, she has a Denver drivers license. Due to recent changes in Wisconsin DL policy, she will need to provide her SS card, Birth Certificate and proof of Wisconsin residency to get a WI drivers license. All her other personal papers are back in Denver.
I asked the service rep what forms of ID are valid, and she listed off the usual, including a birth certificate. I asked if they were so concerned with needing ID, why would they accept a birth certificate. Someone could easily get copy with the details that were in her wallet. I also went on to ask why you needed ID to PREVENT someone from taking money out of the accounts. No good answers there, she just stated its policy and tried to hand us the 1-800 number again. The same 1-800 line that sent us into a local branch to begin with.
So here we sit, her personal papers are on the way from her father and the account is still active. Does the Consumerist have any contact info for Associated? It might be time for an ECB (Executive Carpet Bomb)…
